OFFICE OF THE EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN JOS EAST LGA PLATEAU STATE

'A DAWN OF A REAL DEAL: JOS EAST LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL, ANGWARE, PLATEAU STATE.'

OPENING OF RURAL ROADS FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN JOS EAST LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA IS A MUST DO TASKS - Hon. (Pastor) Yakubu Izang Ezekiel

Reducing the distance between people, markets, services and knowledge or simply ‘getting people connected’ is a great part of what economic growth is all about. Although virtual connectivity has become increasingly important today with the emergence of new communication avenues, a good and reliable transport network remains vital.

However, there is also a very strong positive correlation between a country’s economic development and the quality of its road network. Hence, Hon. (Pastor) Yakubu Izang Ezekiel's administration in Jos East LGC is nevertheless making significant efforts to improve the already bad road situation in the local government by intensifying efforts to overhaul the only Caterpillar belonging to the Council that has been laying waste within Secretariat premises since the creation of the local government for over 2 decades ago.

Apart from the fact that good roads speed up the social economic development of an area, it also goes a long way in adding beauty to the environment thereby attracting would be investors to that particular area thereby reducing the danger insecurity situation in the area.

It’s interesting to know that Hon. (Pastor) Yakubu Izang Ezekiel, upon taking the mantle of leadership, made it clear to whoever cared to listen that the administration was ready to turn Jos East Local Government Area into a massive construction sight with the provisions of heavy construction machineries in the local government, a promise which he has kept. As the prices of crude oil continue to drop coupled with glut of oil in the global oil market, the attention of most countries who had in the past depended on oil for their major income are gradually drifting towards agriculture and Jos East LGC must think outside the box to diversify its affairs.

In view of the above, therefore, a renowned indigenous Engineer, Ada Engr. Yohanna Yaro was visibly seen this afternoon in the Council's Secretariat doing justice to the machine in order to put it in a sound working condition.

This is in fulfilment of his 5-Pillar Points Development Agenda for the Jos East LGA, as more concerted efforts would be seen towards achieving set goals.

GOVERNOR LALONG INAUGURATES TASK FORCE ON VACCINATION; FLAGS OFF MASS COVID-19 VACCINATION.

GOVERNOR LALONG INAUGURATES TASK FORCE ON VACCINATION; FLAGS OFF MASS COVID-19 VACCINATION.

Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has appealed to the citizens of the State to embrace vaccination against COVID-19 and other diseases in order to ensure that the healthcare of the State is fortified against preventable diseases.

Governor Lalong who also took his booster jab for COVID-19 made the appeal while inaugurating the Task Force on Integrated Vaccination and Flagging off the Mass Vaccination at the Banquet Hall of the new Government House Rayfield Jos.

Lalong said the inauguration of the task force became necessary to ensure that there is consistent and coordinated Vaccination in the State against both COVID-19 and other diseases.

He said "The Taskforce which we are inaugurating today has a  membership that consists of health professionals and eminent stakeholders from across the State with the mandate to create the desired attention required for prompt sensitization and consolidation of achieved gains in the area of vaccination. I am mandating all Local Government Chairmen to oversee their respective LGA Task Forces for successful immunization in order to deliver effective rural health care services to the people".

Speaking on the flag-off of Covid-19 Mass Vaccination Campaign in Plateau State, the Governor said "You will recall that since our index case was reported and confirmed on 17th April, 2020, Plateau State has recorded 10,002 positive cases with 73 deaths in all 17 LGAs as at 12th December 2021. Our administration responded promptly and with all vigour which ensured that 9,962 cumulative confirmed cases were managed and discharged, leaving only 35 infected persons still receiving and responding to treatment".

Lalong also announced that the Plateau State Government vaccine mandate is that all citizens of 18 years and above will henceforth show evidence of vaccination or present a negative Covid-19 PCR test result done within 72 hours to gain access to any public office. This will also go hand in hand with observing all protocols in schools, markets, banks, weddings, churches, mosques etc.

These measures according to him are not punitive nor intended to force people to take the vaccines against their wishes. They are simply meant to ensure public safety and guarantee the health of the people against this ravaging pandemic.

Commissioner for Health Dr. Nimkong Lar said the vaccines are safe and not harmful contrary to conspiracy theories, reiterating that no one will be forced to take the vaccine. He emphasized that the Ministry was also concerned about other diseases aside COVID-19 which need more sensitization for vaccination.

The Long Gamai of Shendam Miskoom Martins Shaldas, Chairman JNI, Chairman CAN, and other stakeholders assured that they will do their best to sensitise and mobilise their people flto cooperate with the Government towards achieving desired goals.

Unicef representative in Plateau State Dr. Wazingi Williams presented the global, national and State outlook of the pandemic and its management, urging citizens to make themselves available for the vaccine which is a major way of containing the virus that is still being studied.

Responding on behalf of the Task Force, Deputy Governor Prof. Sonni Tyoden assured that the members will put in their best to ensure that the State achieved its objectives.

Health officials were at hand to administer the vaccines to those who were taking it for the first time and others who were taking the second jab or the booster.

British America Junction Interchange (flyover) and dualization to Lamingo junction roundabout has commenced

 PLATEAU STATE GOVERNMENT

PRESS STATEMENT ON THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF INTERCHANGE (FLY OVER) AT

BRITISH AMERICA JUNCTION AND DUALIZATION FROM BRITISH

AMERICAN JUNCTION TO LAMINGO JUNCTION ( 1.7KM)

In line with the philosophy of the Rescue Administration ably led by the Rt. Hon. (Dr) Simon Bako Lalong, KSGG, Executive Governor of Plateau State & Chairman, Northern Governors Forum, we bring to the notice of the general public that activities to execute the design and construction of the British America Junction Interchange (flyover) and dualization to  Lamingo junction roundabout has commenced.

A Compensation Committee to identify and recommend for compensation, land and properties that may be affected in the execution of this laudable project has been set up, inaugurated and has since swung into action.

The Design part of the project has been completed and surveys such as geophysical surveys, soil testing, load test, etc are currently being undertaken to enable the Contractor, Messrs Craneburg Construction Co Ltd who also has begun massive site mobilization, all in preparation for the construction part of the project.

In view of this positive development, residents, motorists and the general public may have recently noticed some activities by persons or group of persons around the designated areas carrying out various assignments. These activities would increase as the construction work commences in earnest, and as such may cause some inconveniences and disruptions in traffic flow and the daily activities of individuals and businesses around the area due to the road diversions and blockages at some point during construction.

We have however, identified alternative routes around the construction site to ease traffic flow. Also, regular construction and traffic updates/advisories will be issued via various communication channels and platforms to guide residents, road users and the general public.

It is in this light therefore, that all residents and road users are urged to exercise patience, understanding and please bear with us. The difficulties to be encountered will be short lived but the benefit to all will last a life time.

The Rescue Administration calls on all the good and peace-loving people of Plateau State to cooperate with us to achieve this noble project.

We appreciate your anticipated support as always.

LET US ALWAYS THINK AND ACT PLATEAU.

OFFICE OF THE EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN JOS EAST LGA PLATEAU STATE

'THE DAWN OF A REAL DEAL: JOS EAST LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL, ANGWARE, PLATEAU STATE.'

A TELECOMMUNICATIONS GIANT AIRTEL ROUNDED UP THE ASSESSMENT OF JOS EAST COMMUNITY YESTERDAY 17/12/2021

Ever since mobile phones could connect to the internet, it seems that almost every job has the potential to go beyond the typical white colour type because Mobile technology has altered the way we work forever. While we marvel at (or bemoan) our extended workdays, even farmers have been doing it for centuries with communication (connectivity) facilities. Atleast, a quick text to a colleague or business partner, an important email from a client, a video call with people across the world at the comfort of your bed in the village is transforming lives; these tasks no longer require office hours.

In Nigeria today, broadband penetration is put at 39.5 per cent with some 75 million of the over 200 million having access to the facility, which largely resides in the urban areas. But in an effort targeted at improving connectivity to tarm insecurity, and spur business growths in Jos East LGA, the Executive Chairman, Hon. (Pastor) Yakubu Izang Ezekiel has sponsored a network service provider firm, AIRTEL to take coordinate of the entire remote communities in Jos East LGA with a view to providing the infrastructure.

To God be the glory, the exercise was rounded up yesterday.

IT'S TIME TO SHOW PEOPLE HOW TO OWN A POND NOT ONLY HOW FISH: JOS EAST LEGISLATURE RECEIVED SUCCO OFFICIALS IN THE LEGISLATIVE CHAMBERS, ANGWARE ON 17/12/2021

During the last few years many organizations have focused on the modern learner and their desire for learning that is personalized for them (from a content perspective and delivery standpoint). This means what they need, when they need it, and in the amount and format they want. The convergence of new technologies and data analytics have enabled this to advance. Many talent professionals moved from designing and developing to curating content.

Then, out of nowhere, COVID-19 appeared and the world changed. Everyone was working remotely and learning new ways of operating, including new methods of doing business, farming, tailoring and many other choices to adapt. The APC-led Government of President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, came up with policies and programs that will alleviate the sufferings of the downtrodden in the country through a newly created Ministry of Humanitarian Services, Disaster Management and Social Investment; charged with the responsibilities of distributing wealth to the vulnerable people in Nigeria.

The Leader of Jos East Legislature, Rt. Hon. Samuel Iliya Azi Kayarda, Principal Officers and all the members of the Legislature today received SUCCO officials in the Council's Chamber on familiarisation tour in respect of Rapid Response Register (RRR) initiative aimed at cushioning the effects of COViD 19 on micro and small scale business owners in the country.

After a lengthy but fruitful discussions, the Leader of the Legislature thank the August visitors led by Mr. Dapar Paul, for coming to the Council and also appreciated their well of experience and the knowledge impacted on honourable members. He said, all the Councillors are going to conduct step down training sessions in their respective wards with a view to educating their people on the benefits of the RRR initiative brought to Jos East LGA as one of the backward local governments in the state.

Responding, the Executive Chairman of Jos East LGC, Hon. (Pastor) Yakubu Izang Ezekiel ably represented by his Chief of Staff, Chief James Atang Itsegok JP said  “in a world that is constantly changing, there is no one subject or set of subjects that will serve you for the foreseeable future, let alone for the rest of your life. The most important skill to acquire now is learning how to learn.” Chief James said even as a remote area, the people of Jos East are very good in procastinating over viable government policies and programs, which would have reduced the scourge of poverty and other social ills bedeviling the people. He encouraged the Councillors to contribute towards getting their people  registered for RRR Initiative looking its poverty alleviation potentials. The Council Chairman concluded that "it's time to show people how to own a pond not just teaching them how to fish;" reminding the Councillors that globalization has taken over the entire world and they must learn how to go with the train of digitalisation. Traditional rulers were also on ground to receive the August visitors.

It has overtime transformed so many local politicians and local leadership. Hence, Jos-East LG can take advantage of this development to engage with the local population to participate in local governance that will add value to their living standards.

With the social media, 3D administration will constantly save money to be used on other viable areas of our needs. Already, traditional outreaches are expensive. It is also a known fact that Local Government do spent alot annually on public relations and advertisement, not to even talk of some in-house acquisitions. We can drastically cut those costs in order to save for the rainy day. Instead of spending “extravagantly” on other outdated methods of doing things, Jos-East Local Government can now leverage more on cost-efficient social media platforms to raise awareness about issues the public needs to know about. After all, these are platforms our teeming youths including senior citizens of Jos-East community and even neighbours are very conversant with nowadays.

Even though, experts in cybersecurity have overtime lamented over the significant progression of cybercrime rate especially internet frauds, the social media has overtime demonstrated that it is also a viable tool in curtailing criminalities thereby promoting police assistance especially the locally adopted Community Policing and other non-states' actors maintaining local security network like Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Neighbourhood Watch, etc.

With just a click on a button, your town hall, council, legislative arm and joint traditional council meetings are not far from people's fingertips. This can be attain via Facebook Live, Instagram Live, and Zoom

Moreso, COVID-19 came with several experiences that has changed the perception of governments towards reaching out to the electorates. Infact, individuals and even corporate entities are beneficiaries of adequate Information pertaining the pandemic from the social media. With the Local Government Social Media  handles, emergencies and construction updates will be disseminated down to the grassroot as fast as possible being aided by social media usage. It only takes an internet connection and access points. The social media handles can also serves as platforms for job advertisements in the local government where citizens at levels can try their hands such opportunities made available and accessible through the social media.

In conclusion, the administration of Hon. (Pastor) Yakubu Izang Ezekiel Executive will soon commence consultations with some carefully selected critical stakeholders with a view to equipping itself towards revamping the administration's developmental policies and programs. This is to bridge the already widening gaps being created between the rural, semi-urban and urban areas via migration.

In no distant time, capable hands with up-to-date, time-tested and firsthand skills on social media usage would be appointed to mann such responsibilities while giving Jos East citizens value for their money.
